Mixed Media Canvas

Hello friends....I was challenged to do a mixed media canvas, and I can tell you it is much harder to do than it looks. I am a card maker....that means a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch panel to decorate. This canvas was huge compared to what I am use to...but I crafted on.....

I started with a 5 x 7 inch canvas and covered it with Gesso.

The next step was to use Modeling Paste with a stencil. The hexagon stencil is by Heidi Swapp, and dots were a die cut by Penny Black that I then used as a stencil. Now wait, wait, wait for the paste to dry.

Here comes the fun part....start stamping and adding colors you like. With my sentiment already planned, I wanted the finished piece to be on the brighter color side, so I used a lot of blues and pinks.

I stamped with Penny Black Letter Background and Petal Party all over the canvas. Flowers were somewhat colored in with distress ink...that is the beauty of mixed media...you can be messy, color outside the lines & make mistakes that are "planned".

To achieve the above look, I used all of the products you see here...and probably then some.

I heat embossed the sentiment on a wooden tag. I absolutely love this stamp Dream in Color by Reverse Confetti (even the name of the company is fun).

Here you can see the texture of the Dots stencil I made from a die cut.

I had a lot of fun...but you should see my fingers...they are covered in ink.

So ...all in all it really is somewhat like making a card...just messier.
This will look adorable in my studio as is or maybe I will have it framed.

This mixed Media is entered into the challenge at Reverse Confetti.

Thanks for stamping by today, and feel free to leave me a link with your comment of any mixed media you have done lately...I would love to see what you are working on.

Let's go Shopping:
Canvas board
Distress Inks - Salty Ocean, Picked Raspberry (Ranger)
Fireworks Sprays - Danube Blue, Tangelo (Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko)
Stamps - Letter Background & Petal Party (Penny Black)
Gelatos - Snow Cone (Design Memory Craft)
Heat Gun
Pretty much anything I thought might look good

This turned out so nice! I like the colors that you used. I tried a mixed media card once...(Nothing I would want to show anyone LOL) I think I may have thrown it out...but I still have my Gesso and one of these days I will give it another try, because I really do like the look...
